I keep asking myself a question. “What can I do?”

You probably do, too.

You can mourn the way things are and the road that has gotten us here. You can add your voice to the chorus for change. You can reach out to people who are particularly vulnerable in this time. You can show up, donate, pitch in.

These are all good and useful things we can do.

But once we take these actions, we’ll still be confronted with a deeper question: “Who can I be?”

That question has even bigger implications. It acknowledges that we need a longer-term change independent of any action list or single activating event. It demands that we move beyond one particular agenda to an overall approach to those around us.

This is a time for action. It’s also a time for lasting change from the inside out.

So, who will you be?
